Teresa Charles

Teresa is the carers lead for both the Maiden Newton and Beaminster surgeries.

Caring for another person, no matter how much you love them can be a lonely and stressful experience, causing mixed feelings and emotions.   The situation will be different for everyone.  You may be suffering with increased exhaustion, not to mention the aches and pains, through the extra lifting and increased workload.   All this in turn can make you vulnerable to illness and infection yourself.

There are very useful carer support programmes and courses available that are free to carers, which also give you the opportunity to meet with other carers who may be in a similar situation to you.   As a carer you are entitled to a Carer’s Assessment and may be eligible for one to one support and a sitting service for the cared-for-person.

If you would like an informal chat at any time about your caring role or require further information about the support and benefits that are available to you, then please ring the surgery or ask for me at reception and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
